Steps to make Arisiyum parupu sadham:
  1. Wash and soak rice and toor dal together for 20 to 30 mins
  2. Heat a pressure cooker with oil and ghee. Add mustard seeds and cumin seeds. Let it splutter.
  3. Add onion, curry leaves, red chilly and garlic. Sauté until onion becomes soft.
  4. Add tomato and sauté until it becomes soft.
  5. Add red chilly powder, sambar powder and salt.
  6. Add soaked rice and dal. Add 5 cups water (2 cups for 1 cup rice and 3 cups for 1 cup dal).
  7. Pressure cook for 3 whistles.
  8. Serve with any poriyal or papad or curd.
